Samuel Burstin was born, raised, educated and is now employed in one of the world’s great musical cities. From getting his Mum to sing nursery rhymes to him for hours on end, through early violin, piano and saxophone lessons and a choristership at one of the City’s most renowned churches, to graduation from a top conservatoire of music and employment with one of the world’s great orchestras, Samuel has always benefited from the excellence and diversity of London’s musical life.
Samuel has a tremendous passion for music which shows through his performances as a violist and conductor, and which inspires his teaching and tutoring. He feels music is something that should be enjoyed by all, regardless of age or experience, and spreading that joy is his musical aim.
Samuel has been a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra’s viola section since 2005. He is the founder and conductor of the Paradisal Players, a fresh, vibrant classical ensemble formed of top players from London’s greatest professional and amateur orchestras. He is also the violist of the Elena Trio. His musical life has taken him to both North and South America, the Far East, the Middle East, and to almost every European country.
Sam’s other great passion in life is sport - he is an Arsenal season ticket holder, loves rugby (he has travelled to South Africa to support the British & Irish Lions) and follows the England cricket team. If not at a game he is often to be found in a pub raising a glass or three to toast their latest victories. He also loves all the usual reading/cinema/dinner parties with friends stuff, and is slightly OCD with hanging out his washing properly and loading the dishwasher. Welcome to his website!
